Subject: APPLICATION FOR 1999 GRANT-IN-AID (Humanists of Georgia) Date: Sun, 18 Apr 1999 10:00:40 -0700 From: Arthur Jackson To: grmplsh@aol.com, mhuman@msn.com, clgordon@earthlink.com, manysmiles@geocities.com Chairperson of project: cc: President: Gregory Graves Keith Stallings 3453 Rilman Road P.O. Box 1394 Atlanta, GA 30327 Lilburn, GA 30048 404-846-0897 770-923-4279 Dear Gregory, This is a belated follow up as promised in our phone conversation initiated during the March Grant-In-Aid meeting. Apologies for the delay. I am a trustee of the Chapter Assembly Fund for Chapter Expansion, and we are responsible for awarding annual grants from the Lebrun Fund. By now you should have received a check in the amount of $2,500 which was sent by Solomon Smith Barney on 29 March 1999 to President Keith Stallings. If it has not been received please let me know. We are interested in the progress of your project. I have volunteered to be your liaison, offering continuing encouragement, and support for your project. I am personally very interested in what you plan to do because I believe this is an area that has been grossly overlooked in the development of Humanist chapters. What you are doing could well lead to much more effective chapters that are more relevant in the lives of the members and in the communities in which they exist. I came to the San Jose, California area in the late 1960s with the personal goal of working to develop a model AHA chapter to help advance the cause of Humanism. I say this to make clear that I have a significant interest in the growth of Humanist chapters. So if I can be of any assistance in dealing with problems as this project develops I hope you will feel free to contact me. The other Trustees share my enthusiasm for your project which is why we have added the additional $500 to aid in distribution of the materials you develop to other Humanist groups. I hope you will share your problems and achievements with me as the project develops. Although e-mail is probably the best method of communication for me please feel free to call me at: (408) 923-3774 (home), or (408) 441- 5556 (work), or write to the address below. Yours in Humanism, Arthur Jackson 3032 Warm Springs Drive San Jose, CA 95127
