Subject: Nominee Date: Tue, 20 Jul 1999 12:21:25 -0800 From: Lloyd Kumley To: pkpaulson@home.com, FloWinerit@aol.com, kds@pe.net, frankprahl@earthlink.net, Foxheart@aol.com, dradtke@ocln.org, nerren@juno.com, fgh@cruzio.com, ajackson@SSA.CO.Santa-Clara.CA.US (Arthur Jackson), prochelle1@aol.com (Paula Rochelle), clgordon@earthlink.com (Claire Gordon) Claire Gordon, COT Secretary, other members of COT, & members of the CA Board, 7/20/99 Thank you for the information received today, Claire, that the members of the Committee of Trustees (COT) of the Fund for Chapter Expansion of the AHA Chapter Assembly have nominated Paul Abramson for consideration as the person to fill the vacant position on the committee. This is the first I've heard of the nomination. The Board of the Chapter Assembly has not yet acted on this nomination. I just spoke with Charles Archibald and he has agreed to complete his term of office as CA Secretary to Dec. 31, 1999. So we have a complete Board, though that is not required for us to proceed. I apologize for the delay this has caused. The nomination is for a lifetime position and thus is not a small matter. I see some good information about Mr. Abramsom in the letter you have forwarded to me, but feel more will be required to enable us to make our decision. For example, is Paul Abramsom an AHA member? If so, when did he join? What is his work experience? Does he have a fairly current resume that he can share? Does he have any experience being a Trustee? How long has he been involved with the Stanford Humanist Community? These are just a few questions that come to my mind. I imagine others on the Board will have more. We should have developed an application form and process the last time, but didn't. I propose this is the time to do so. I'd like to receive replies from Paul Abramson to these questions and to receive questions from others on the Board that they would like answered. Most of the Board members are online, but a few are not. Thus the process could take some time. I will be out of town for much of August. How about others? Replies to this inquiry will give us an idea of how rapidly we will be able to make a decision on the nomination. Also, if the letter you sent to me and to Charles is in your computer and online, could you send it to me via email for distribution to the other CA members who are online? Thank you, Lloyd Kumley, CA Chair cc: Members of Grant in Aid Committee-- for your information and input, if you have thoughts/ideas to share. -- end
