Dear K-12 Science Teacher,

First, I’d like to invite you to visit our updated Homepage at www.darwinday.org and browse the new section on "Examples on How to Celebrate Science and Humanity" toward the bottom of the page.  Note that this year’s Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry, Roger Kornberg, recommended the celebration of science on the PBS News Hour, on October 3, 2006.  Take a little time to click on the various examples of Websites that have been developed for Darwin Day (DD) events in the past.  For instance there are samples for universities, colleges, high schools, K-12, museums, libraries, churches, and more.  There are also examples of some very exceptional projects that are being planned for Darwin's birthday bicentennial in 2009.

Believe it or not, it’s time for us to start promoting Darwin Day celebrations for 2007 that will be held on or near February 12, Darwin’s birthday!  Many thanks, to all of you who have participated in “The International Celebration of Science and Humanity” in previous years.  Even though this yearly celebration has taken on a life of its own, with many independent national and international institutions taking part in the festivities, we still enjoy every response that recognizes our most reliable knowledge system – that of, verifiable scientific knowledge, produced by human curiosity and ingenuity!  We also invite everyone to register their celebratory Events on our website as a way of showing support for each other and for the vast amount of reliable scientific knowledge that humanity throughout the world has produced!
