I have set Server setting to 'Check for new messages every 5 minutes' but the program doesn't. Works fine if I click on Get Mail. Any thoughts much appreciated

Can't be sure about this because I am at work and not sitting at my own computer. In the same page where you tell TBird how often to check messages, I think there is an option which says "download new messages", I think you need to have this box ticked, if it isn't already.

Hope this helps.

I have a similar problem. I have the "Check Every 5 Minutes" checked, and the "Download New Messages", but Thunderbird no longer checks. Also, when I click on the "Get Mail" icon on the menu, nothing happens. There is a dropdown button by the Get Mail icon, and it includes Get All New Messages on one line, and my ISP on the second (Verizon.net). If I click on either of these, the program will check and bring in the new messages.

Any ideas?

I am having a similar problem:
TB 1.0.2 attempts to download messages from an SSL POP3 server and gives the message:

"There are no new messages on the server"

even though there are. I've seen this as a problem with TB 0.8 but i think the edit which fixed it is not possible with the prefs.js file for TB 1.0.2 Any ideas??
